Why do they want to give us more credit so we can do more of what got us in this trouble, when what we need is sustainably produced sustenance of food, housing and energy? The financial world is a bubble of hypothetical wealth that has grown exponentially by increasing the ratio of gaming bets to the existence of reality assets. This is the bubble that just burst. But instead of trying to fund and direct the real wealth of life support resources, our "Illuminati" want to create a bigger bubble of vapid debt obligation in it's place.

Are these "people" insane or just totally evil?

Who is going to borrow money if they don't have confidence in future income? Where is there a "lack of credit for consumers" that they talk about? I still get 2.99% credit card offers in the mail, mortgage interest is around 6% and the internet swarms with "credit solving" offers. Maybe Mr. Paulson could do us all a real favor and return to us his recent $500 Million golden parachute from Goldman Sachs instead of gaming the system for another $500 million while he's supposed to be a public servant?

Why do we need more credit? Or is the question really... why do "they" want to ram down our throats more debt? Are they attempting to bankrupt the US? Are they attempting the greatest monetary ROBBERY in the history of the world? Where will they hide after they pull this off?

Is this "their" Shock Doctrine Recipe at its most poisonous?

Voting system swiss cheese guarded by fat cats. War for profit. CreditDebt is your god church religion bow down or be excommunicated (laid off). Capacity of room exceeded, violation ignored. World burning and burning and burning, more coal, more gold. Protest?, oh pooh! Prisons and prison guards...gold. Armies...gold. Weapons...gold. Nukes...gold. Torture...gold. Terror...gold. Voting machines...gold. Walling off "others'...gold. Soap opera news...gold. Myth as information...gold. Information as myth...gold. All is confusion...gold. Nothing can be changed...gold. Secrecy...gold. Seduction...gold. Trickery...gold. Bankruptcy...gold. Unresolved debt?...gold. Sacrifice your life for your god...gold. Sacrifice your Constitution, your democracy, your rights, your common sense, your reasoning, your soul...gold.

This spectacle is your friend which makes your life so important and meaningful because it serves a higher purpose than just yourself. Think of all the good it's doing and all the good in the world. Now that's better now, isn't it? No need to fret, no need to raise your voice or cause a ruckus (you know that "rocking the boat" is just... well you know... just, so rude!). Settle down to a nice cup of tea. A good book. Maybe even a tv show or two. Now isn't that better? Think of all your friends and how they need your help too! Be cheerful, have a good attitude and you will feel better because you're helping others. Things will work out. People are working for a better world. Lots of things are really not explainable and we just have to have faith. And hope. Now isn't that better?

They tried knocking on the door...for a long, long time. They backed up, and looked up into the windows but could see nothing, no one, only their reflections and opaqueness. They threw dirt clods up... and called out, but no reply. "Whatever are we to do?" they said. We're getting poorer every day while they are accumulating wealth like never before; we die and kill in their wars; we pollute and are polluted by slaving in their oily steel coffins; we drain the lives of other countries just to groundhog luxury; if we think "wrong" there's virtual Guantanamo; if we are disobedient there's Guantanamo...and they've made us the prison guards. We are here to say..."stop...stop...stop". But they are not listening. They do not respond. We try going around the side of the building and ... oops.

Whatever are they doing behind this facade? There's nothing there.

11/6/08 - Obama... are you listening to those who disagree with you now? Will it be President Obama or Emperor Obama?

The Wicked Whimp of the West is Dead and millions dance in the street in one great gasp of exasperated relief. Those who are praying that Obama will be more progressive than advertised will need to get in his face like "The Scream", to realize their hopes.

If the choice of Emanuel for Chief of Staff is any indicator, Emperor Obama is the likely result. Emanuel's voting record is Clinton Redux. Deceptive, pro-wealth liberalism at home, ambiguous but complicit free trade empire abroad.

If he does what he said would do during the campaign, no one can take issue because he would be being honest (however cagily he did that to get your vote). McKinney and Nader honestly told us the truth and prescribed solutions, but they had no media exposure therefore they didn't exist (received about 2% of the vote). But they gave us the option of addressing the truth, and the country has ignored them.

The wealthy are in control. Their pyramid scheme gambling casino has failed. Capitalism has finally collapsed on itself and the bailouts are an attempt to reset button the dysfunctionality. If we allow the bailouts to go forward, they are back in business. If we don't allow the bailout they will allow failure by standing on the sidelines, idling on their piles of cash, smugly gloating and whining, until we give the rich boys and girls control once again. The Empire seeks to Roll On.

What should Obama do?

He needs to re-tax them and take back what they stole and roll that into a Green WPA program. Gut the defense dept and redirect the gutting to aforementioned infrastructure rebuild. Get Israel to rollback their empire to UN accepted agreements and either make 2 separate and distinct governments and contiguous countries or merge with equal rights for all, supervised by UN troops and unbreakable treaties. Withdraw empire from the world, eliminate the walls and open borders. Sign and implement the Earth Charter. Nationalize the Federal Reserve and re-regulate financial transactions. Eliminate corporate personhood, reform and nationalize the voting, campaign finance and citizen participation in democracy. Repeal all Free Trade agreements and any laws that attempt to supersede the Constitution. Change the intent and purpose of governing from promoting empire for the top 2% to providing a sustainable, just and fair democracy for all at home and promoting self sufficiency, peace and international Fair Trade and sustainability abroad.

We need to watch out for token liberalism screening war and empire as usual. This is what I fear, but hope will not come about. Obama... are you listening to those who disagree with you now?

10/30/08 - Did the "Debates" Present America with Real Choices to Choose From? The following is a letter to Lawrence Lessig after listening to today's KPFA interview...

I have great respect for all the valuable work you have done for free speech and the internet. However, at today's KPFA interview you included an idea that 3rd Parties are not excluded in the debates. Hinting, at actually, it's ok to omit marginally supported alternative opinions from mainstream dialog.

I would like to try and persuade you that that idea sends mainstream monoculture spiraling inward into an ever less socially diverse gene pool of ideas and needs to be jettisoned in favor of the purposeful seeding of greater diversity of thought.

I have been very politically active within society for the last eight years. When people ask who I am voting for and I tell them Cynthia McKinney, they say "who?". I would bet that of alternative candidates ranging from greens to indy to libertarian, you couldn't get 1% of the voting public to identify more than one platform position for any of these candidates much less their overall policy proposals. This gives people the idea that "reality" is limited to the "viewed" options presented before them.

For our society to be fully informed during an election all the top 5 platforms (or more) should be presented under equal conditions so that each can be compared side by side. The debates under this circumstance should have included McKinney, Nader, and Barr at least. There should be a very well laid out schedule each election, with national holiday time to coincide and facilitate, and commercial free access. Possibly a non-partisan government channel with on demand access to at least 3 - 5 debates and equally presented platform positions published in comparison lists (just like product comparison tables) so people can clearly distinguish choice.

This is the crisis of our times, of this democratic republic. As much as "technology" has improved the availability of information, the actual access or delivery of information has decreased for mainstream "consumers". Both McKinney and Nader have viable alternatives for a reconfiguration of our government that is appropriate for a full planet living sustainably. The current Red&Blue Corporate Monoparty is a train headed off the cliff, with the elites in a remote control booth off stage, and us, the people, trapped in the train. Free access to equivalent information would allow citizens to understand, accept and choose to participate in solutions they understand and accept, and work to fix the catastrophic mess we are in.

When I tell people about DemocracyNow they say, "DemocracyWhat?". It's been around since '95 but I just heard about it 2 years ago and have been watching it ever since as an antidote to the mainstream propagandizing of "our" media. This equally valid, but alternative point of view, should be given equal budget and placed parallel to the mainstream media's nightly news shows so citizens could accurately evaluate the full spectrum of information available on equal footing. This would be a functioning operation of real democracy.

First Amendment Rights to free speech and free assembly, in this technological times, must be considered valid only when including ACCESS. It's not enough to be able to speak and assemble, especially if that is restricted to a cage 4 blocks away from being heard, or to the absurd restrictions under the rubric of permitting and private property, or from a position in the information environment that is virtually unheard. The EQUALITY of information being heard validates acceptance in a social culture like ours. The fact is that rarely heard opinions are automatically marginalized and discarded.

10/18/08 - Oily Steel Coffins! Proof that cars are useless and CarFree is one good way to evolve out of the mess we are in. On a personal note, I took my octigenarian mother out to lunch and a drive last Saturday. Everything was fine until we went to watch the Blue War Devils spray pollution all over our skies (her request) down at Chrissy Field. It was over at 4pm and we waited out traffic for 45 minutes. We then spent from 4:45 until 7:45pm traveling 5.3 miles to the US101 freeway entrance downtown. We spent 10-15 minutes at a time stock frozen on city streets, unable to park or move at all. 4 hours of our personal lives, free from work, enslaved behind the wheel of an oily steel coffin. At one point, frozen in the middle of an intersection, my mother became sick and had to open the car door and throw up in the middle of the street. I couldn't park or move or get out to help her since we were STUCK. Yuk! I am accustomed to being on bike, and thereby free, for 99% of my travel and for me this was the absolute end of seeing any use in owning an automobile. I think that 95% of them should be dismantled and recycled into mini rail train cars and tracks so we can have a REAL transportation system. The other 5% can be converted to electric cars and vans that are available for sharing by neighborhood blocks.

Paul Craig Roberts on Wall St. Bailout: “Has Deregulation Sired Fascism?” The Wizard of Oz Club first gave us the laughable Good Ol' Boy Bozo head icon to stupify us while they stole our Republic, Now they have put up a convoluted scam no one can figure out, including them (which is how the pyramid scheme works) with "The Scream" as it's shock therapy facade, and have pulled off the biggest in your face Heist in world history. Remeber, it was Paulson while at Goldman Sachs that "convinced the Securities and Exchange Commission to remove all capital requirements for investment banks, and thus they were able to drive up their profits by amazing leverage." Apparently, consumer culture has produced the stupified patient, the domesticated human wageslave unit that will virtually sit stock still for anything the master dishes out on his poverty plate? And if you take the wageslave's blinders off, be goes bezerk and attempts to pummel anyone windowing the truth?

The radical greedy branch of the capitalist church gave us the Reagan popup dollhead sounding Father God-like-Wizard-of-Oz screening our common sense from being the ruling paradigm. Profit for it's own sake consumes everything in it's path, and begets all other consumptions. Like having a barbecue in your living room it stinks like hell when it's over... if it didn't kill you. The moneydrug dealers doled out their religion of greed and built their casino on our rock. They privatized profit and socialized risk, went on a dope filled drunken spree and attempted to consume everything all at once. And when their party came crashing down they want us to pay. Their abrogation of the constitution, much less any sense of morality... their police, their military, their technological threats, their toxicity, their legal shenanigans, their media mainlining us stupidity, their fear-mongering and scapegoating, is all meant to keep control. And now its all broken.

So what do they do now? Why recoup of course. If we will put up for it.

Their 50+ year efforts since WWII to divert money from public to private sector is nearly complete. A recouping of an already bankrupt world would drain all power from the people and require a police state to control. They're now stealing the last of the funds possible to exist, for themselves, and leaving us with nothing but the debt that would keep us imprisoned for life. The money they hold needs to return to the benefit of the people rather than being consolidated by them. All of their profits and holdings in excess of personal need should be redistributed back to rebuild a functional infrastructure for all the people of the world. Capitalism has failed, authoritarianism has failed, heirarchy has failed, the cult of the personality leader has failed. The pyramid scheme is over. Viva la revolucion real!

Scroll back to the Carter Administration. 30 yr. mortgage interest rates go up by 64% from April 1979 until April 1980 as Paul Volcker was brought in as Fed Chair to provide "shock therapy" for the US economy. Oil Crisis, Iranian Hostages, and inflation and the above mentioned "shock therapy" threw Carter out of office, and "government" was scapegoated as the villian by Reagan and the Prop 13 tax revolt of the mercantilist propagandizing right. The shock doctrine treatment - double digit interest and double digit unemployment rates, and the transfer of tax revenues from public sector to private sector brought us: mandatory two wage earner households, permanent homeless populations and a drastic defunding of public infrastructure - schools, roads, health care, pensions, water, utilities - while drastically upsizing military, police and prisons - a change in the allocation of tax payer revenues to provoke an environment conducive to privatization and the control of worldwide economic activity.

The culmination of this attack on our democracy by the corporate/wealthy has found it's fruition in the $850 Billion Bailout passed Friday. The enemies of egalitarian democracy have penned their names to this document for all to see and will be held accountable for their actions along with the entire War, Torture, and Shock Therapy Bush Administration.

Kucinich said on Monday's DemocracyNow that there are signs that the Bush Administration went around tightening the credit situation weeks before and may have given the crisis a little kick to the brink. After Volcker, who became head of the World Bank (which used "shock therapy" treatments on Chile, Argentina, Russia, Poland, Indonesia, and more), Greenspan came along riding the corporate media-controlled-information environment that greased-in deregulation, off-shoring, unFree Trade, outsourcing, downsizing and fire sales, and gave us fire sale interest rates. Home prices have risen 1000 - 2000% (depending on location) since 1970 while the cost of living has risen by 500%. The low interest rates seduced consumers into the housing bubble, which accelerated as quick profits fueled speculation by greedaholics.

Thus we have the world in economic chaos by the corporate capitalists who control the economic and political environment of most countries of the world. If you consider the sustainable and individually equitable evolution of humanity a sign of intelligence, this batch of leaders gets an "F". And of course these elite dunces (red, blue, rich, corporate, upper management, employer, and anybody excessively profiting by the labor of others) have proclaimed their self-made crisis, our crisis, and we must pay. We must pay? Instead of rebooting to their failed system again why not take this opportunity to reconfigure (with a WPA type public infrastructure "bailout" investment program) with sustainability in mind rather than mindless, trickle-up profit for it's own sake?

What more "shock treatments" will they prescribe? How much longer before the patient gets out of the chains and boots the corporate coup, creating a true direct democracy?

9/26/08 - The Empire Tightens It's Grasping - the Age of the Mirror is upon us...

On the 4 year anniversary of my RNC abduction off the streets of NYC by NYPD, my internet connection went down for nearly a month and I was unable to keep up with the evolving bimbo police-puppet culture in St. Paul and Denver. The connectivity lesson learned is how the internet (DemocracyNow, Indymedia, email, etc.) now functions as the vehicle for democracy for & by the people. The lesson learned after catching up is how patheitic all those cops look with their android robo-cop riot gear in 20x numbers vs a 1x poor unarmed, t-shirt clad young adult, just pounding away on them on the ground, or shooting pepper spray in the face of a young woman offereing them a flower. If the cops could just see themselves in those videos, and detach themselves from the battle-comrade mindset, they could see how they have been setup by the system as the prison guard enforcers for the elites and their magic kingdom of Oz, minus the silver shoes, the heart, the mind and the soul. Their cop bosses, their city attorneys, are paid liars and perform their jobs with a righteuos indignation that only Alberto Gonzales would be proud of.

The Matrix (the pop art film) gave us The Mirror.at the close of the 20th century. It represents that metaphor, allegory, simile, homonyms, puns, and all of the intrigue creating subroutines of lingual representation, have been relegated to tools, as has all of The Matrix, rather than the God roll they have played in the past, ...and our reflection is as clear as day and it's not pretty. Obedience to a system of abstractions is obsolete. The path out of the Room Full of Mirrors, that is the Matrix, is clear as well. Unplug, detach and switch to the sentience of universe, the original programming code for navigating evolution successfully. The artificial umbilical cord of greed, leveraging life for personal or family benefit, is the black hole pulling us out of orbit to the harmonies of universe.

There doesn't have to be any violence, just lots of sentient consciousness driving daily life behaviors. We've gone through the abstract cocoon phase and have all the tool toys we need to leverage a beautiful survival on beautiful earth if we so choose. The choice is now ours to take. No need for wild myths or gimmicks to hypnotize us into passive compliance to an alienating reality that crushes our true nature. The future is ours, and as an aquaintance just said to me yesterday...

Grow our own food and make our own stuff locally wherever I/we/you are. 8/15/08 - Is the Georgia vs Russia conflict readymade by the neocons (check out the McCain - Georgia connection) and was nuclear Iran just a diversion (or the cherry on top) to provide cover for a Shock&Awe Saturation Bombing of Worldwide Fear & Loathing in America just before the election? McCain is too old and senile and militarist to be elected but if the American public becomes 'fraidycat enough to hide under the skirts of a Fearless Leader for some more oil, there's always the Dirty Old Man to protect them. The DNC and RNC could be manipulated by provacatuers (see this twisted poison plot and how it may fit into this report from Denver) to scapegoat peaceful protestors attacked and jailed for no reason like at the 2004 RNC, pumping up fear of anyone trying to exercise their First Amendment rights. Meanwhile Ron Suskind's "The Way of The World" makes devastating evidence against the entire Whitehouse for fabricating justification for the Iraq invasion with the Iraqi head of intelligence (silencing him with $5 million) and Conyers begins an investigation. Is Obama's new militarism trying to play into the entire scenario from a fake lefty position within the Red&Blue Corporate MonoParty's bid to sucker America into a New World Police State (also see Goo Guns, Microwave Heat Rays and Sonic Ray Guns that our taxes have paid for) required by the total destruction caused by their joint policies since the Reagan era? The truth is, as usual, a simple but involving discussion requiring time to digest a holistic picture of the situation, which is skirted by our sound-bite-to-promote-mindless-profit paradigm. David Blume describes how we have been misinformed by economic and political lobbying, and how a reconfiguration of all the circumstances surrounding corn usage would result in ecologically sound and economically beneficial processes supplying us with localized ethanol fuel, adequate corn for human consumption, better feedstock, new fertilizers, new crops and farm products support, and alchohol.


8/10/08 - The potential of a new breakthrough discovery at MIT would allow cost effective, local storage of energy from renewables as hydrogen then used for off-hours electricity at home and in portable applications like transportation vehicles.

Daniel G. Nocera, the Henry Dreyfus Professor of Energy at MIT, has developed a simple method to split water molecules and produce oxygen gas, a discovery that paves the way for large-scale use of solar power stored locally in homes and businesses. "In a revolutionary leap that could transform solar power from a marginal, boutique alternative into a mainstream energy source, MIT researchers have overcome a major barrier to large-scale solar power: storing energy for use when the sun doesn't shine."

This discovery has the potential to free each citizen from the profiteering of utilities and the coal-oil-gas Corporate Tyrant Godzillas, and live peaceful, sustainable lives courtesy of the sun and the collective intelligence of humanity. But watch out for this project being coralled, obfuscated, blocked, marginalized, murdered or in some other way ported off to the black hole of their stupidity. I don't think they can do it this time, but guarding this initiative will surely be enlightening and fun. I can't wait to see them try to squirm and weasel themselves outta this one!

Just imagine... you've got a little windmill and solar panels on your roof producing more electricity than you need and so you store the excess as hydrogen in a tank in your basement that replaces your water heater (you won't need that anymore because the hydrogen you have stored will operate your new tankless or solar water heater!). With a weeks reserve of hydrogen you plug in your electric, hydrogen or air car at night and fill up for the next day. Vehicles such as this are shared in your community and fully paid for by your locally organized and owned co-ops.

8/3/08 - Peak Oil or Peak Everything? 6 billion people living off an earth that can only sustainably support 1.5 billion without cheap oil, gas and coal! A clueless ruling class and a citizenry largely unaware of the problem's magnitude because their media keeps up a saturation bombing of the air and inkwaves with delusions of omnipotence. So where are we headed?

In a new book by Richard Heinberg, Peak Everything, the author addresses questions about what an overpopulated world's future might look like after shortages of such things as oil, gas, coal, grains, fisheries, climate stability, economic growth, fresh water, copper, platinum, uranium, etc.

This book, like many others discussing/selling the gloom and doom aroma of our Civilization Dystopia, skimps by potential renewable energy solutions like solar, wind, geothermal, etc. Why is this?

What is it about our current reality that makes a survey of all potential solutions, and any subsequent public discussion, verboten? This fact, I believe, is where the real problem with Civilization Dystopia lies.

This reality, our current civilization, is the product of a representative reality. All products and processes are the realm of, and composed of, images that propose a reality, then manifest it using earthian resources. The priority is the cohesion of the image of itself as eternally viable. The society is held together by a contract of illusions that fails to take into account the limitations of Earth. This state of mythological belief is only maintained by a socially mandated worship of the authoritarian nature of language and all systems of representation that have brought this civilization it's bounty. The ruling class that operate the levers of The Machine thereby assume the position of earthbound authority carrying out the will of the representational god, on behalf of the masses. In this way we allow the table of discussion to be limited to whatever the ruling class has determined to be positable. In essence, we the people have submitted ourselves to the dopes on top, and we, the people, are consequently getting what we are allowing to be real.

7/19/08 - The US Gov't long term liability debt of $53 trillion represents a debt of $455,000 for each US household? ("Concern grows over a fiscal crisis for U.S.", SF Chronicle 7/17/08)

In the above article written by a Chronicle Washington Bureau writer, the attack point is once again the crash test dummy of the corporate monoparty...our failsafe retirement fund of Social Security and Medicare. $53 trillion is an absurd projection into the future and guess who the Chronicle (via Bush's GAO report) has targeted as the guilty culprit? SS for $6.7 trillion and Medicare for $34.1, leaving only $12.2 trillion of unspecified (?) sources.

When I first started reading this terrifying article I was shocked to speechlessness by the quantities...$53 trillion? But then I was questioning the amounts...these numbers are fairyland stuff. The estimated net worth of all American families is about $47 trillion. The current US deficit of $9 trillion is caused by interest from borrowing and not having a balanced budget. The SS and Medicare payroll intake each year is illegally used by the elites ocupying our government to pay for their cowardice to adequately tax the wealthy for which they then borrow money to pay for what has already been paid for. The interest for this illegal heist of payroll funds is then tacked onto the federal budget. As best as I can tell (ever try to google a simple pie chart of US income tax revenue expenditures?... good luck!) we spend about 20% of our income tax revenues on interest on debt.

Looks like this article is just some more fear mongering by corporate media.

I am wondering...is possible for these folks to produce meaningful information for the bottom 95% of the population? Something that doesn't try and trick us into knee-jerk economic suicide?

7/19/08 - Finally..."Dems would hike taxes on rich, corporations"(SF Chronicle 7/10/08) ...but wait...they've included the obligatory poison pill clause, so the Reps have the perfect target to shoot it down.

As reported in this Chronicle article the Democrats have finally proposed tax increases, the only non-destructive budget saving option available, of $10 billion to apply to the $17.2 billion state deficit. Aside from being $7.2 billion short of solvency, they placed a neat little Rebublican flavored blasting cap (this portion of the plan taxes all California taxpayers across the board) right in the middle of it, apparently, I can't figure another reason for it, so the other side of the Red&Blue Corporate Party can blow it away. You can see it written in the sky... "so the Democrats want to tax everyone across the board? ..no way...we will fight this to the death!". This poison pill portion only composes 8% of the Dem's taxation plan, but effectively nixes it.

This action is another proof positive that the Dems and Reps are actually nothing more than a corporate monoparty, driving the People's Government into the hands of the Rich Boy & Girls Club of America.

For added proof, compare their plan to the Camejo Budget Plan of 2006 which would have given us a budget surplus, while providing a tax cut for the bottom 60%, and you will see what is actually possible, but they refuse to propose.

Wherever there is not rationality, there is hanky panky.

Confusionism and post-modern thinking are the tools of the authoritarian to keep us thinking there are no solutions, and to maintain control. And we will not be free of this conceptual prison until we rise up and create direct democracy.

7/18/08 - Another Field "Poll" Limits Proposed Energy Solutions to Oil, Gas and Nukes. What else is new?

Another biased poll by Field hits the newsstands with headlines that read "Nuclear plants, offshore drilling gain support" !!! Wow what a load of valuable information! Given no options to choose solar, wind, wave or micro, etc. , people choose more gas rather than less. Wow. Profound! And given the choice of nukes or nothing they choose?.... Wow. Profound. What about Solar? If 15% of the southern facing roofs in the US were solar, it would supply 50% of our energy needs, but why pay attention to silly information like that? What about Wind.?.. T. Boone Pickens likes Wind. Nukes and Oil Drilling offshore and in Alaska costs way too much. But what the heck! Let's get people all excited about toxically killing themselves and the planet while giving the rich another Rolls in their vacation home garage,.. (just as backup). The media is really incapable of true journalism and we are all paying a huge price in their product - a duped and ignorant populace driven to support reactive self-destructive policies that exclude sustainable, non-toxic, peaceful solutions.

7/11/08 - A Proposal for "Flash Freeze Protests"

A variant of the Flash Mobs of a few years back and the current "FREEZE IN GRAND CENTRAL" by Code Pink NYC, this would be a spontaneous "freeze" protest nationwide at a given time. Unlike the freeze at the train station, and flash mobs there is no need for gathering in one place. One merely freezes with sign or art of their making for 5 minutes at say 6:15 pm wherever they are, at that time on the clock. They just have to be in public and know the time and act. Send out email for a web posting of a known reliable publication point like Code Pink or other group at least 3 weeks in advance so word spreads, even others not participating may know. And let people be creative. DIY atomic protests. Low cost, no resources or time commitments necessary. Just do it!

7/6/08 - Finally some common sense good news to report! "The 10 Million Solar Roofs Act to be introduced in the US Senate - Monday July 7, 2008."

Sen. Bernie Sanders to Introduce Bill Aimed at Achieving 10 Million Solar Roofs. "Senator Bernie Sanders announced on Tuesday that he will introduce legislation to encourage the installation of 10 million rooftop solar units on homes and businesses... Rebates would cover about one-half of the $20,000 average cost of installing a solar unit that, depending on location, could provide up to one-half of the electricity for a typical home. The legislation's bipartisan cosponsors include Senators John Kerry (D-Mass.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), John Warner (R-Va.), and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.). The 10 Million Solar Roofs Act of 2008 [PDF, 6 pp] would encourage installation of 10 million photovoltaic systems over a ten-year period at private homes and businesses. 7/4/08 - More Media Confusionism - Pew Research Poll of July 1 "Finds" "Gas Prices Pump Up Support for Drilling".

Lie. The poll excludes any choices for alternative energy sources. The questionaire gives only the following two options drilling/mining/exploration/build power plants or conservation/regulation. Would you like more or less? Duh! What happened to the third option of alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, co-generation, etc.? The only conclusion to come to is the people with the levers want to feed you information that excludes options that don't feed them mountains of your money, without having to break a sweat to retool to sustainable practices. They would rather you see the resulting headlines in the newspapers like the Chronicle saying "Gas prices shift energy opinions: Poll says drilling, new power plants growing in favor". Lie, plain and simple. Compared to what, not having energy? It's really unbelievable how they do this right in our faces every day and then they wonder why no one is buying their papers?

For god's sake start telling us the truth and providing us with useful information so we can make purposeful decisions, or ...good, go out of business, so we can build our own media that performs the above mentioned functions without your corporate brainwashing.

Here's an exerpt of a letter I sent to a leader of a regional transportation lobbying group who insists that we need to "keep transit fees as a valuable [to the elites who don't want to lose one penny of their greedy horde of cash] source of income"...

Thanks once again for your personal reply which I very much appreciate. If on-the-ground citizens cannot speak to the "leaders" of the existing configuration of our democratic republic then what we have is a government run on a cloud by, for and of elites.

I want to broach to you a few comments that organization leaders like yourself need to hear. I mean no disrespect and I am not being irrational or avoiding "pragmatic realities".

There has not been one group of lobbyists or political activists that have done anything of significance since MLK. There is a reason for this. He did not compromise. If you compromise before you even start conceiving of a plan to improve our situation (like good public transit) because you assume and try to predict what may be successfully implemented, this leaves you presenting incomplete solutions that everyone can see is not enough. Then when you try to sell us this watered down stuff, nobody buys it, including the elites that you are trying to get on with.

This is the great failure of the left. People keep talking about "why the left has failed' as if this was some incredibly nebulous issue. For god's sake you've given up all principle, and any reality based upon the truth. (The truth being the best available information assiduously sought after.)

No one can possibly believe anyone that says "I am going to produce apples by planting 5% of a seed". The apple tree that will produce the apple requires a complete SEED that does not require evolution.

[Democracy is an evolved creation with all of it's parts known like an apple tree. But we have allowed the dismantling of it by corporations that ARE NOT PEOPLE! The Constitution has been illegally jury rigged by the elites, who think they have been sneakily superceding it through their use of "precedent". Precedent is ILLEGAL supercession of the Constitution!]

You guys need to present full plans, full seeds, that will restore or create the conditions that establish sustainability or real democracy or real socially beneficial infrastructure. You need to educate people as to how this SEED is a complete plan that will grow through a dedicated time period (that cannot be aborted or disrupted by the temporal greed lusts of the elite) to become a permanent and evolving component of our socially democratic ecosystem.

We need to restore democracy first....

Then plant viable SEEDS like...

The only blockages to the above, true democratic initiatives for a sustainable planet are YOUR acceptance, and thereby complicity with, a "corporate profit reality" being our ruling paradigm. Is it possible for hierarchical leaders of any membership to be free of the Club Mind of the power elite? The evidence we have seen over the last 30 - 50 years says no. I would love to see you guys come out of the stupor from which you have kept yourselves and prove the above statement wrong. But until you do, the left, democracy, real democracy, true survivable sustainability will not see the light of day. And the longer these elite/corporate/nuveau-riche idiots, that you ALLOW, to stay in control of...

- the availability of truthful and useful information

5/13/08 - Why is solar being labeled a "loser" by UC Energy Institute's Severin Borenstein and others? If we had invested $500 billion in free rooftop solar rather than the Iraq War could we have eliminated the need for oil altogether?

Mr. Borenstein has been the oil expert darling trotted out by the local media in the Bay Area every time gasoline prices go up, to tell all of us "what's really going on". Problem is he always tells us a point of view that would be written by an oil industry PR office as a pseudo non-partisan point of view. His comments always leave me scratching my head as to why doesn't he ever make sense to even the most naive consumer? He never counts long term costs to society nor admit that the oil industry is making record profits and subsidies from our taxes. He seems to just skim over this with "market" considerations as the real reason for rising prices.

I think it's time for the local media to start looking closer at Borenstein's assertions. The Mercury's article says the UC Energy Institute does non-partisan work, but fails to cite the fact that BP is giving UC $500 million for an energy "lab", to discover alternate energy sources from plant-based sources. In the UC press release on the Borenstein paper, Borenstein says: "We need a major scientific breakthrough, and we won't get it by putting panels up on houses," he said in a recent interview on campus. "It is going to come in the labs."

Labs like that funded by BP? Funny thing is BP sells solar. But now BP wants to find it from other alternate sources? Weird. What's even weirder is a few simple calculations and research that took me 10 minutes on the web.

Has "democracy" been permanently gutted from the inside out, or can a grassroots rebuild made by citizen "truthiticians" transform our plutocracy into a true democracy "of the people, by the people and for the people"?

2001 and the world's most powerful society elects a "drooling manikin" (courtesy Matt Taibbi) corporate stalinesque, smiley-faced Bozo as Emperor-President Ice9. The most powerful society's economy and leadership slips into a nose dive of incompetence provoking a flurry of teapot-tempest-paranoia creation by money-master money-monster, Dr. Strangelove DickC. The TV-Car encoffinated consumers cower in manufactured fear of rightfully expectable retribution for their Worldwide Plutonium Plutocracy's free-trade stripmining of anyone not bowing down before the Barrel of the American Dollar, including those holding the "Gun" for Fearless Leader.

The Fearless Leader Ruler Cult knows that Step One to Privitization Profit Frenzy is the defunding of governments and see they have stumbled onto the ultimate goldmine bonanza of defunding - Westernized Middle East Oil Empire via MegaTrillions Debt and MegaMillions Death & Debilitation. Just imagine by facilitating the collapse of 3 buildings with a couple thousand disposable humans aboard, they could defund every publicly owned, non-profit enterprise benefiting the people, (that interferes with their access to controlling these assets for their own profit) and throw the entire worldwide economic system into absolute chaos. The chaos of course is screened by the propaganda monkey wrenching corporate media, so the commoners don't realize what's happening. A few blinks later from this Shock Therapy Capitalism and what-do-you-know Cup Apocalypse! [Democracy was a nice experiment but it just don't work for us Plutocrats no more.]

They can't count the votes but "they" can sure count your dollars. They call it democracy but corporations are recognized as "persons" and control the entire election process from election funding, to determining debate participants, to vote counting, to lobbying. Citizens don't even have time to write their representatives but the wealthy can pay for fulltime influence...is this democracy? If they admit the Wars have been wrong, why don't "they" ever risk their job to stop them? "They" admit the president is a criminal but don't arrest him and allow him to commit more crimes. Is this really a democracy? Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia says that "torture is not punishment". Is the US really a constitutional democracy?

For me it has been a long 8 years of protest that seems to be no more than 5% effective. Vitually useless. I think it is useless to bargain with anyone who will not deal with truth over politics. Politics seem to me to be the art of social manipulation used to make people accept agendas based upon trusting a "personality". This just doesn't work anymore, if it ever did. It really seems adolescent to me. How could one trust anyone whose platform and performance is confusion?

Under these conditions how about this suggestion for implementing real change. Create a platform, written as simply as the Constitution with concrete objectives, and pre-written laws, written in similarly simple language that implement those objectives and post them on the web for all to see before election. Get a group of seven like-minded citizens who will share equally this elected position, one for each day of the week. Each would serve one-seventh of the time at this jointly represented office. This would allow the "representative" to have a personal life while teaming up to participate in our democracy, representing a platform.

The idea that our representatives and elected officials "represent" citizens is preposterous, as the results of the last 250 years have shown. How can someone represent a person? It's on the face of it, absurd. The only thing a "representative" can represent are ideas. If "representatives" actually did this, represent clearly stated, clearly understood ideas - policies, goals and objectives, then we could hold them to these, or they would be recalled, fired... outta-there!

The hub for the "representative team" would be a website. On this website would be: full documentation of the platform (policies, goals and objectives) and pre-written laws; policy statements clarifying every issue and how it's "representation" would be pursued (this would substitute for endless speeches reiterating, or rather not obfuscating as our current crop of politicians do); a list of proposed votes on bills with justifications based upon how they match the platform, and a list of the actual voting record; certified constituent polling on all issues; and detailed documentation of how other "representatives and government officials have blocked, thwarted, embargoed or destroyed efforts to implement the "elected platform",

This is the most important feature here - the elected platform. This is the real "star" of the people, not some pompous phoney personality selling us a cure to a disease his cohorts have created for the purposes of clubby profit. The elected platform is, or should be, the heart of our democratic republic. If we must use the republic form of democracy there must be transendence of the personality and it's quest for power and profit. I think this is a path to that goal.

The most difficult aspect of implementing a "policy representation" will be defending it from the Shock&Awe politics of the existing Red&Blue corporate politicians. "They" embargoed the Green, Audie Bock, in California. "They" twist the words and context of any speaker into tripping over themselves trying to demanipulate the manipulations (just look at the Obama/Wright campaign of confusionism where the truth never surfaces for the public to easily see) of the media (information distribution network) owned by the plutocracy. "They" outspend, embargo, defund, trick and dupe just like a pack of adolescent bullies running amuck.

In my opinion representing a platform will be a way to evolve into our social adult, and start following our principles rather than the destructive pragmatic bullshit of capitalism. It will be an entirely new way of seeing the world, where principle, the truth (the best available information assiduously sought after), and sustainability supercede and obsolete pyramid profit empires. Isn't it really much easier to be honest and straightforward, knowing your doing the right thing, rather than slithering around all the time trying to avoid the truth that you're a lying greedy cheat? Being a citizen of the US is naturally being a part of this reality (and all US coitizens need to be informed of a truthfully described history so we can move forward), whether one likes it or not. So isn't it time to pull ourselves out of this slimy primordial muck of our own creation and seque to eutopia?

4/27/08 - Has the Red&Blue Corp's Economic Shock Therapy sent the world into a vortex of capitalist implosion and are the World's Economic Elites planning to cope by creating a dystopic worldwide police state, and is the entire Middle East a proving ground this New World Order?

Worldwide food riots. US Gasoline prices to be $7 a gallon by 2012. Arctic sea ice gone by 2013. US economic freefall caused by Red&Blue Corporate Party feeding frenzy of empire oil wars and military spending.

The question is, can working class people rise up and invent their own economic system of non-toxic sustainability and egalitarian self organization, to save the day and our planet from self-obliteration? Or will the Corporate Elite Party use their urban warfare and anti-terror technology test in the Middle East and bring it home to install protest obliteration as a standard feature of the new age police state?

How much have the above scenarios been predicted in white papers by the capitalist brain trusts? Is the inevitable drive to Armageddon just a screen for the inevitable need to create a global police state to protect the top .1% of the world's population from the results of capitalism's complete mismanagement of human evolution? But the real question is will the world's population wake up to the Great Duping Voodoo of the company store's media propaganda state in time?

4/18/08 - Truth #3 - The root problem blocking the possibility of a sustainable earthian civilization is overpopulation and the entire planet should place a solution to the problem on the implementation front burner.

Solutions currently on the table:

Making sure people around the world have access to family planning services.

Empowering women in developing countries economically, socially, and legally in a manner that results in them having an equal say (with their husbands) in reproductive decisions.

Modifying school curricula to include information on population levels and implications for the future (such as the scenario described below).

Reforming tax laws in a way that encourages couples to have no more than two children. (They would still be able to have as many kids as they want, but the sliding scale tax code would no longer subsidize more than one.)

These are pretty simple measures, so why aren't they being implemented? Wherever there is not rationality, there is hanky panky. So what hanky panky do we have? Why would the world's economic elites, who have total control over policy creation and implementation, not want to halt population growth? What happens when there are fewer consumers and fewer workers? When there is profit being made on each consumer's widget purchased and on each worker's widget created, this means less profit. Would the economic elites voluntarily institute policies that would reduce their profits? Would they EVER implement such policies?

What would happen with an attritive population decrease of 50% over the next 70 years?

The year is 2078 and the world population has returned to 1965-1970 numbers of 3.5 billion and there are 4 billion liveable housing units inherited from early century build-out. Reproduction stabilization methods used by indigenous peoples over the millenia, have been adopted sucessfully and a conscious goal of 50% reduction has been met. Monitoring of population changes are watched closely and local taxation policies are modified as needed to stimulate population balance by region.

Everyone has shelter. Millions have retreated from coastal inundation, but global warming has flattened out with projections of cooling soon ahead. Millions of acres of land have returned to localized rural and urban agriculture. Urban ornamentals were replaced with fruit, nuts & veggie plants & trees. Demand for food and raw materials has now dropped to levels that allow recycling, reuse and closed loop manufacturing to fulfill all human needs. Former employer-owned businesses collapsed from "pyramid scheme myopia", and businesses have been reconsttituted by worker collectives that make generic, non-propretary products for local/regional needs. Most citizens have assumed their own housing from the early century overstock and provide much of their own food and energy via community gardens and residential solar, with off-grid hydrogen tank backups available as needed for night-time use. Consequently, most basic survival needs are met outside commerce, so average "work" hours of employment are less than 20 hours per week. Most people spend their free time with specific pursuits and researches of their own inclination and these actually provide greater technological and artistic innovation which becomes part of the human collective knowledge and cultural library for further exploration.

Small, high speed, high increment, free trainlets provide pedestrians, bike and skate commuters safe and speedy transit 24 hours. Community electric autos, vans and business vehicles are available in sharing networks owned by the vehicle collective. Transnational high speed trains and non-toxic air travel are well established. Most high-rise buildings have been abandoned and reclaimed for art and cultural activities as needed. In the late '50's they were open-aired and retrofitted to be zero carbon/energy footprint buildings by volunteer collective refurb groups. (Apparently people prefer to live on the ground adjacent to gardens and nature, so these buildings have become backup housing for the temporarily displaced.)

With a little brainstorming and collective work on an ongoing basis, involving everyone here on earth, we could have real eutopia. If our Earth spent millions of years building a free life-support system for a sentient species like humans to evolve, and now that we have depleted/re-released the carbon energy that gave us our current technological slave-based life-support system, couldn't, shouldn't we use that previous "barbaric" development period to re-establish a free-based evolutionary eutopia more in sync with the human desire and proclivity towards joy and the pursuit of knowledge?

Why isn't this an ongoing pursuit?

1/6/08 - Only the Heart of the Warrior Can Stop our Slide to Self Obliteration. War is Obsolete! The Consumer Culture is Obsolete! What happens when the Obsolete find out they are obsolete?

They go beserk. They find bogey men behind every bush, inside every backpack, in every email, in every voice of protest. And to root out these bogey men, they have to suspend the Constitution, invade random victimizable countries, place surveillance devices in every nook and cranny of the Enlish Muffin. Meanwhile they leave Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, nuclear weapons, and brand new American fighter jets (signed the deal not just three days after the assasination of a corrupt but leading candidate for an imminent presidential election) capable of delivering a nuke payload anywhere in the world, all together safe and sound, in Pakistan.

Meanwhile back in Richistan the peons below the millionaire top 3%, are trying to figure out why their world is being is being completely destroyed by the lunatic fringe at the top. We are the richest nation in the history of the planet and yet our infrastructure, our environment, our health, our retirements, have all been bankrupted by these economic elites and their panty raids on our tax revenues. Let's be clear, we spend more than 50% of our federal budget on Defense, 40% of which is black. And this does not count the cost of the Wars...throw in another $200 billion or so and a total of 2 trillion over the next 10 years...uhhh!

Problem is their entire capitalist pryamid scheme has obsoleted itself as you can see from the Annie Leonard video below "The Story of Stuff". They are too stupid to know what to do about their incompetence potentially causing human species extinction, so they keep using tactics from the same stupid paradigm that got us in this problem in the first place, and just make things geometrically worse - such as war and toxification. Or like allowing China to become a middle ages serf nation to the First World Consumer Suck Engine (check out this horrifying article in Mother Jones). Rather than seeing global toxification as a problem that needs to be halted they mainline it! Fight fire with fire and burn it all down. Nero would be proud.

So the cat is out of the bag and everyone knows they and their system are obsolete, but the Obsoletes keep pretending that everything is just Jim Dandy. The media has smiley faces and tell you just as much as they can get away with. The politicians are serving up money on golden platters to their rich friends and the world goes on as before. But wait, what happens when real all-hell breaks loose and coastal cities are inundated (the estimates of desertification alone dispacing people in the next 10 years - 50 million!); the American public learns that: the elections in both 2000 and 2004 were stolen; the sub- prime scandal is 20 times larger than the media is letting on; and that our Constitution has been essentially repealed and replaced with a police state to enforce an authoritarian workstate of paranoid rich people who are afraid that any meaningful reform will make their little pyramid scheme all broken and worthless?

There are a lot of signs this is already happening. Congress is passing absurd laws that make it a crime to protest or to engage in civil disobedience. Protests at conventions or other big hoedowns are restricted to small fenced in areas blocks and sometimes miles from the event being protested. (Sorry but the First Amendment says nothing about a having to obtain permits or even having restrictions to free assembly. Our current culture has slowly allowed unconstitutional laws to restrict our inalienable freedoms.) How will we have the change we need if the information necessary to accomplish change is blocked by the police state?

The urban areas are being cleared out of poor folk like seen in the Big Brother social engineering experiment in New Orleans. Privatization of water, power, military, schools, health care, all forms of public services will once again funnel profits to the millionaires and defund us of our once egalitarian democracy that kept all it's money for public benefit. The media is controlled by conglomerates that fear any change to their pyramid of profit and consequently give us nothing more than meaningless babble.

Look out folks, they are coming after anyone who doesn't go along with this spectacle of self destruction. And they try to portray anyone who protests as a "terrorist". I think this is next up on the fascist play card...the up and coming bogey man - the "terrorist next door". I don't how they are going to do it but watch out for the sign posts of this tactic. It's already in that crazy law passed by Congress - Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act and if you throw in the "Patriot Act" (isn't it interesting how they can take an abrogation of the Constitution and call that "Patriotic") allowing the abduction and torture of any American citizen for any reason, and make it a secret so they don't have to inform anyone. My God what have you got...Got Fascism? I'm sorry but if we need fascism to feel safe as a nation, there's something wrong.

[Check out how our current government compares with pre-war Nazi Germany...Thousands of miles of barbed wire fence and/or wall at the borders south with private Blackwater military bases nestling in; rounding up illegals/slave labor in factory raids and then proposing work visas for what becomes esentially indentured servitude; abrogation of the Constitution and suspension of habeas corpus allows any citizen to be disapeared without a trace; all of our email and phone conversations are being "hosed" by the surveillance community; proposed national and mandatory identity cards; all information regarding any government activity can be declared secret and block any inquiry (essentailly making our government secret); corporations have "greater" rights than citizens; Congress almost required every farm animal in the US, yes, every farm animal in the US to have a chip embedded in their bodies so they could be tracked by satellites (they must have some powerful dope up there in DC, brother...); "pre-emptive war" is an oxymoron; the American election system is rigged to exclude all third parties and the Red&Blue Corporate party is essentially a monoparty (proof?... 5 years, illegal war, why are we not out and why are we going to keep bases in Iraq?); attempted privatization of everything...FYI Mussolini called fascism - "the corporate state".]

All I can figure is the more obsolete they feel the more scared they get and the more paranoid they get and the more they will try to repress, or put a gun to the head of, anyone who doesn't go along. Their system is collapsing. They attack the disobedient abroad. They attack the disobedient at home. Their Obsolete's paranoia escalates conflict around the world in attempt to keep economic control. As crisis grows their responses become ever more desperate and bizarre. Just look out ...if this administration attempts to start a war with Iran or they stage (or allow) a "terrorist attack" associated with political protest against this new war (rebirthing Cointelpro?), or any of the above mentioned crisis, and they really start using Blackwater (or any of the other mercenary armies) as a privatized SS! The Obsoletes try and marginalize observations like these as paranoid, but they are the ones that have created an environment of war, torture, abduction, jailed protestors, jailed journalists, stolen elections, environmental destruction and corporate police state. The more fearful they get the crazier will be their responses. This is a time to be wise, observant, and assertively and Constitutionally resistant.

This is the time for each citizen to actualize the Warrior's Heart and start daily protest, disobeying the command to self-destruct, and redesigning our daily lives to defund the economic elites and their destructive pyramid scheme of profit. The Obsolete's paranoia will try to portray the disobedient as a criminal element and project onto them the Obsolete's inclination to see violence as the only solution to any conflict, as they have tried in Iraq, Afghanistan and so many other countries, cities (New Orleans) etc. Problem is we are not violent. We abhor violence. They abhor this and try to manufacture us into the enemy they seek to fulfill their urge to have conflict and domination. But we won't buy it. That's their product and they can have it all to themselves.

We now want our democracy back and we want a Power to the People movement. This will require that each of us become strong and assertive in our public presence to be a new reality separated from the profit motive and circulating our hearts, minds and passion towards sharing; building networks of sustainability; and relocalizing our daily lives. This will defund the madness of the Profit Monsters, manifest the Heart of the Warrior and bring our planet to a stewardship of adult homo sapiens. Like the Lakotah Nation has done, we will have to stand firm and demand our inalienable rights as citizens of earth and reclaim our place in Universe. This is the Heart of the Warrior! This our destiny.

Politics, environmentalism, human rights, racism, genocide, justice, peace, democratic principles, war, pollution, civil rights, law, commerce, worker rights, employer rights, personal freedom, media reform, socialism, security, terrorism, authoritarianism, consumerism, religion, belief systems, or any "individual" aspect of our existing civilization which attracts attention for movements of social change, are only manifestations of our system's function as a total system. Dealing individually with any one component will just displace the problems to a different location within the system. Our earthian ecosystem is the actual "system" that is the life support for all of Earth's inhabitants. Unfortunately the above list with which we are currently obsessed, deals almost exclusively with the abstract system of commerce and it's surrounding support system of capitalist pyramid scheme, hierarchical class divisions and overuse of finite natural resources.

I frequently try to point out our current civilization as being adolescent in nature and that for homo sapiens to survive the oncoming crash diagrammed by Catton (if we haven't already entered well into it) we will have to have a paradigm shift to the adult. This would entail moving from a consumer culture of infinite growth and productivity to an ecological maintenance culture living by it's concurrent renewable resource income. Catton points out that homo sapiens have become "homo colussus" living well beyond our means. Homo sapiens lived on, and within the means, of the existing ecological bounty of Spaceship Earth. Homo colussus is to him a "detritovore" living off the dinosaur wastes of fossil fuels to create more people, more technology (to provide the "infinite" growth that capitalist pyramid schemes require to generate "generous" wealth to lower orders), more increments, demanding more oil and more increments, ad infinitum. In effect a cycle of increase that cannot continue within a finite system like earth.

We have all heard that to provide a first world lifestyle to all our inhabitants would require 6, or 16, or however many earths. Catton documents almost all the problems with startling data and analysis. The resource wars, over- booked lifestyles and loss of personal satisfaction and sanity, physical health and social problems related to high density living. ecological toxification, global warming and the ultimate problem - ever increasing over population, fueled by this very technological "success" exacerbating the problem with every passing minute.

We will not be able to avoid the coming or existing (hidden by American consumer culture cacoon) crash but if we don't change our ways the crash is going to be a nightmare tragedy. Once again, I prattle on, and I am sorry for the necessary expletive but, those who haven't done so, please...WAKE THE PUCK UP!!!

So you say, "but what can I do?...my gov't is unresponsive and headed like a train off the cliff, and I need to get to work before I get fired and fail my family obligation...but what can I do?". Catton suggests "ecological modesty", meaning, I think, withdrawl from any resource depletion. As far as energy is concerned he suggests residentially distributed solar. I concur. Our politicians continue with oil wars, resource depletion and the pyramid scheme empire, and of course try to micromanage all the resulting abominations that are resulting from their incompetence. "But what can I do?" Here's what I and many in the community around me here in Oakland are doing...

- Vote green party (Cynthia McKinney for prez...yeah!)

- Relocalize yourself - job, home, friends, purchase of provisions, music, entertainment, growing food, build sharing networks with neighbors

- Share - cars, books, tools, trailers, dvds, music, videos, etc. RRFM, Barter,

- Repair your stuff rather than throw away.

- Reuse and recycle everything!

- Bike!, walk and use public transporation for 95% of your transit needs.

- Urban Gardens

- Urban Fruit Trees rather than Ornamentals

- Free Public Transporation! It's YOUR system YOU'VE paid for it!

- High Speed Nationwide Passenger Train System that is competitive with air travel.

- Stop using non-renewables like oil, coal, metals and find renewable substitutes.

- Job Swap - Trade jobs to relocalize to your home.
