Political Action Required!
(Please note: This "Tea Party" page was made
years before the current corporate Republican
fad tea party appeared. A fact they are ignoring is
that the 1773 Tea Party was a protest against the
British East India Companya multinational
corporation that was robbing the colonies blind.)

"Perfectly Legal" documents the 35 year history of an engineered diversion of our tax funds (now over $200 billion each year!) to benefit |
Social Security and Retirement Account "reform" scam. |
As a child of the sixties, I and my friends assumed that when our generation's time came to rule (like now!?), we would have instituted common sense reforms to civilization, heading it in the general direction of eutopia (Bucky Fuller). In '68 I was sure that in ten years we would have had solar cars and the end of gasoline related pollution. We would have had social reforms that facilitated an ecologically viable (now called sustainable) existence on earth promoting worldwide peace. (What I unconsciously sensed then to be the necessary principles leading to change, is now embodied in the Earth Charter, a global Declaration of Independence and Constitution.) I sat back, and our generation sat back, and thought that the powers-that-be would get it done. Or at least, I thought, "our time" would come, and we would be able to fix things. Yo. Well. Was I ever wrong! I underestimated the powers of the consumer culture (the driving paradigm of this civilization) and the super-wealthy employer classes, the greedies, ability to wrest control of our democracy. And the effect of advertising-type, twisted-word-definition social engineering by the political right, that reinforces authoritarianism and heirarchy, and is held in place by this widely distributed confusionism. So now I/we find ourselves trapped in a first stage Big Brother World Order movement, that if not halted and reconfigured to a sustainable and just society, will bring on the nightmare realities of a distopian science fiction future.
What can be done to stop the madness and reconfigure toward eutopia? Aside from joining groups that organize for change and going to organized protests, each individual must self-organize and integrate daily behaviors that will manifest a positive life on earth. All of us in the "First World" know, even if only unconciously, that our lifestyles are out of sync with the natural order of earth's life systems. Dissatisfaction is the default state of human conciousness in civilization. Scratch the surface of the smiley face that consumerism demands you put on reality and all of sudden an "Agent Smith" comes out of the ether of civilization (your programmed consumer-self, or friend, co-worker or passer-by) to block you from engaging with your true feelings and actively pursuing change. Your resulting anger-searching-for-a-fix is either misdirected into faulting a neighbor, a politician, a group, foreigners, the other, an image, a word, or yourself. What you need to do is change your conscious daily behavior.
Live a green life. Wear daily symbology that identifies your point of view as a green and an egaliterian member of society. And meanwhile cancel out any consumer culture symbology that identifies you as complicit in the existing self destructive Big Brother New World Order that manifests itself through the consumer culture. This will deconstruct the social peer pressure that pushes mindlessly consumptive behaviors towards promoting beneficial sustainability behaviors.
Work actively for political change. Most of my friends have been so programmed by the negative, confusionist, self-defeative postmodernist modality that they cannot see any sense to writing or visiting their elected representatives to demand change. But realistically, if the politicians are in the pockets of the super-rich and consequently just serving their interests, isn't it mandatory to get them out of this pit? Otherwise you're just siting there authorizing your "victimization" by a rich and powerful minority, while in a democracy ruled by you the majority. Most politicians must have service to society as a driving force but have been salami tactiqued (slow "boiling of the frog") into making the current, truly pathetic choices that we are being subjected to. Each citizen must personally contact their representative and demand change. Cliched or not, the truth is, if LOTS of people get in their faces they will change. They realize that active people VOTE and they influence others to VOTE. And if lots of active people are demanding change, and they don't do it, they realize they are going to lose the next election to someone who will. This is a democratic republic and you must participate for it to work!
What kind of change to demand? The super-rich now hold power through campaign contributions that provide instant access to our representatives. Demand true Campaign Finance Reform such as: No PAC contributions; no corporate/non-citizen contributions; one citizen (registered voter) maximum contribution of $100 per year per candidate, party or proposition; self funded campaigns limited to $100,000; political parties host all advertising/platforms on their party websites; every candidate gets a five minute presentation on a Voters Public TV channel (all funded by taxes, no commercial entities allowed); after runoff that includes primary results, the top 5 candidates debate in 5 debates before the election; and after election, all lobbying occurs in public meetings (no lobbying is allowed in private settings), and all elections or voting conforms to strict majority rule (51/49%). And of course a secure voting system is a must There are more of us (employees) than them (employers). Let's make this democracy work where majority rules.
Next needed is Tax Reform. A conservative estimate of the undertaxation of the super-rich reveals that the US citizenry has been cheated out of the current equivilent of about $200 billion dollars of revenues each year, due to uncollected taxes, unenforced tax law, unethical loopholes and tax frauds ("legal" and illegal), defunding of the IRS, and other sundry manifestations. Truth is, we should have had balanced budgets that would have saved, what is now 11.7% of our budget, on interest payments on a bogus deficit. See the Conclusions chapter of "Perfectly Legal" for 13 specific demands for change.
Next needed is ecological policy making. Signing on to the Earth Charter, ratifying Kyoto, eliminating NAFTA, CAFTA (Chapter 11 of NAFTA has actually the mind-blowing arrogance of superceeding the Constitution and US law!), legislating conversions from all toxic technologies, and facilitating all green technologies are a start. Your green economic daily lifestyles will drive a conversion by defunding toxic methods and energize (fund) green ones. An excellent study that proves green methods are actually more efficient and economical, even in the short run, is Natural Capitalism.
The links and subjects below and above, are resources for proceeding with the above listed activities (and related issues) in the hopes of creating the eutopia that earth has as it's/our objective in universe. This is an ongoing project that will be added to as time permits and is placed here without profit motive or for any personal gain other than the hopes of being a part of a truly "civilized" world. Peace, love and consciousness now!
